About Us

“We are large enough to make a difference and small enough to care”

Welcome to Penrose Funerals. We are here to care for your family during the tough times. We want to be recognised as a service provider you can have confidence in; one who is going to help you create a meaningful and memorable goodbye for your loved one. We welcome all faiths, traditions and beliefs, and promise to do our best to meet your needs.

Historically, many Funeral Directors have been ‘order-takers’ – What type of coffin do you want? What are the names of the deceased’s parents? Where did they live? Thankfully that has changed and today, we are interested in getting to know your family and your loved one. We will ask questions like: Tell me about your mum? What did she get up to in her spare time? What things were important to her?

We want to be the first choice for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one and we hope you come to us with confidence, knowing we will listen and guide you through what needs to be done. It is about ‘Trust and integrity when it matters most.’

Our vision is “Trust and integrity when it matters most.”

Bill Atchison is well known in the Grenfell and Young communities and has been with Penrose Funerals for over 10 years following a career in the NSW Ambulance. As is often the case in a small business, Bill wears many hats. He can be seen setting up for a funeral in the morning, only to be followed by a quick ‘superman’ change into his suit; or greeting guests as they sign the memorial book at a funeral service.

Our aim is to gently guide you through the journey of funeral preparation and farewell so as to honour your loved one and to care for your wellbeing.  We give you time, focus on listening to cater for your individuals needs, and provide advice and suggestions to craft a meaningful and appropriate farewell service.

At Penrose Funeral Care everything we do, we do to honour life...

  • By providing a sense of comfort and security to those who grieve

  • By treating those who have died with the utmost respect and dignity

  • By helping people to commence the important journey of healing as they reconcile their grief

  • By honouring the lives of those who have died with a ceremony that facilitates remembrance, celebration and hope.

Funerals are Important... because Life is Important

Penrose Funerals is an accredited member of the National Funeral Directors Assocation of Australia (NFDA). We are bound by their Code of Ethics.
